The band UV-TV was formed in 2015 and is currently comprised of Rose Vastola, Ian Burns, Ian Rose, and Noah Deemer.

The group’s discography began in 2017 with the release of their LP Glass on Deranged Records. This debut captures angular-laden guitars blended with the sweet, lullaby-like quality of sung vocals, all layered over a surf-rock and post-punk foundation. Glass is punctuated by screeches, twangs, and noise, evoking a twee-punk reinterpretation of the late 2010s. The album nods to influences like The Primitives, The Jesus and Mary Chain, and The Passions.

In 2019, UV-TV released their second LP, Happy. This record embraced a more aggressive and attacking sound, exemplified by tracks like "Hide" and "Gold." These heavier moments were counterbalanced by the airy, grooving tones of songs like "Falling Down" and "Walk." This interplay between soft and loud dynamics marked a turning point, signaling the band’s evolving approach to crafting their sound.
Their 2021 LP, Always Something, released on Papercup
Music, was both a critical and artistic success. At this juncture, the band faced a crossroads: refine their sound with more intentionally crafted songs or echo the energy of their earlier works. This album coincided with Ian Burns’ standout guitar work, which became a defining feature, while Rose took over as the sole vocalist, delivering a more commanding performance.

The group’s most recent release, The Optimistic Wrench EP (2024, Papercup Music), represents their most experimental and creative departure yet. Designed as a deliberate interruption in their creative process, the EP emerged after a challenging period of inactivity and writer’s block. Collaboration among all members proved crucial, allowing the band to break free from their previous identities and styles. The result is a fresh, boundary-pushing exploration of sound, signaling an exciting new chapter for UV-TV.
